Morning Cup of Joe? Try These Cafés in Worcester MA!
By Ashley Hassell
If you're sitting in an hour of traffic just to hop into the Starbucks line that wraps around the parking lot; you need to change your routine. There are dozens of coffee shops in Worcester, and only two of them are Starbucks.
As a resident of Worcester myself, I am well aware of the lengthy morning journey it takes to travel from one side of the city to the other. I also require a large cup of coffee for this journey, otherwise I turn into Oscar the Grouch. Being a coffee and breakfast enthusiast, I've figured out which coffee shops you need to incorporate into your morning routine by measuring with two important components: product quality, and accessibility.
If you live in the Tatnuck area, Root and Press LLC will be your knight in shining armor. Located on Chandler Street in the heart of Tatnuck Square, this quaint bookstore coffee shop offers delicious house-made pastries, breakfast, lunch, and quality coffee. This place is perfect for a morning commute as its in an area with less traffic, and sits directly across from a Cumberland Farms gas station.
It also stays open in the evenings with burgers and salads, and even milkshakes. You can also join in on their book events that are usually held weekly. The owners and staff are so friendly, and they make amazing espresso drinks. My go-to order is a coconut iced-latte with oat milk. You will not regret your visit; this is hands down my favorite coffee spot in this city. Click here to see their menu!
The runner-up on my list of favorites is Fuel America, located right across from Worcester City Hall and Common. It's in a prime location around the Business District, making it extremely popular for business lunch breaks. The mornings aren't nearly as busy, which is why it's the perfect pit stop for your morning.
Currently there are two locations, the other in Boston, and they are expanding to even more soon. Fuel America is a "new American coffeehouse". Click here to visit their website and check out the menu.
So take it from me, quit adding thirty more minutes to your commute at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Try out a new coffee shop, and better yet, support a small business!
Fuel America, 2021.
